“DUST COVER TRILOGY” was a modern-day take on dust cover designs for a three-book series of my own choice using illustrations and typographic illustrations as my main communication method. Through the research that I conducted I was able to understand how to portray deep symbolism and meaning of the text that two brilliant authors provided.
I was able to take their stories and display it in forms of hand rendered illustrations that were relevant to what happens within the story, whilst still being able to intrigue the audience. All three books are depicted as playing cards because I had used the term for naming cards, “four of diamonds”, to relate to how one would say “six of crows” and in doing so I thought it would be a unique way of designing the books to show that they are part of a series. Each book’s front cover holds imagery that relates to an important factor of the book.
